Flamingo Card

WANT TO MAKE THIS FLAMINGO CARD?

Below is a sample of a card I made for our daughter's 1st Birthday party. I only made about 15 cards, but it took a long time making all of the pieces. Hope you enjoy making your own cards no matter what the occasion may be!

STEP ONE:
You can either cut out a small card, or buy the pre-bought card stock with corresponding envelopes from Close to My Heart or any stationery store. Once you have your cards, stamp the leaf pattern once for the dark shade, and then a second time to get the lighter effect. Repeat this process until you have covered the entire card. After creating the patteren, take them same ink pad, and gently brush the edges to give it a distressed feel.

STEP TWO:
Next you will want to cut out two circles. I used a coluzzle circle cutter, but they make punches now that can punh them out much faster. I think I spent the majority of this project cutting out circles! Use your light pink paper for the 3.5" circle, and the darker pink for the 1.5" circle. Feel free to make your circles any size. (** Note: Always measure the stamp you are using first before cutting out your larger circle** )

STEP THREE:
Stamp your flamingo drawing in the center of the light pink circle. Follow by using a brown ink to ink the edges. this will help it flow with the rest of your distressed items. I used the Flamingo stamp set from The Angel Company, and the leaf set was from there also.

STEP FOUR:
Once you have all of your pieces ready, use double sided tape to attach a strip of patterned paper 1" from the bottom of the card. You can flip the card over to see how much you should trim off. Next, glue the large pink circle down overlapping the strip of paper a little. Once you have completed that, take your small circle and attach two small ribbons to the back. Then attached a small brad to make it look like everything is connected before you glue it down.

I hope this was easy for you. I liked this design so much I sent a picture to the woman who made our cake, and she created this for us. We complimented the Flamingo theme buy having a Flamingo Toss game for the older children along with a duck pond and goodie bags filled with tropical items including flamingo gummy candies and flamingo finger puppets, and flamingo lollipops. It was a great day!
